Just thought it may be interesting to hear your thoughts on Christmas, if you really love it or hate it and can't wait till it's over and your reasons why, me personally i don't really care for it much,i think it causes people a hell of a lot of unwanted stress, it comes around far to quick and i would be satisfied just to see it every three years or more, Bah Humbug :lol:

I love Christmas...but I hate the way it starts in September lol. I hate the way it's being used as another way to guilt you into parting with more of your hard earned every year, and I hate the way people light their houses us like ryunway 2 at Heathrow. But more than anything I hate those annoying tacky animatronic xmas animals that appear everywhere along with the little brats that insist on setting them all off while you're walking round Wilko's lmao. The other thing that really annoys me is how people get in town, how they seem to think that whatever they're doing is more important than what you're doing.

I don't think I'm a miserable sod, but I think that Christmas is ruined and cheapened every year. I'm by no means a religious person, but Christmas is about togetherness for me, not about presents and fancy decorations. I'm in the forces so the only time I really see my family is around this time of year, and it's a little disheartening seeing how Christmas is becoming just another hallmark-holiday.

i do enjoy christmas but i dislike the whole fuss that goes on for months beforehand all for one day. I like the family side of it and the socialising.

Dont like the way people spend needless amounts of money but all in all i do enjoy christmas.

That's what I meant lol...why couldn't I have worded it as easily lol

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. I'm not a christian. I don't like to be negative but Peace on Earth will never happen and goodwill to all men is sadly not going to happen either - even for one day.

As far as I'm concerend christmas is now for the kids but if I was on my own I would be happier not to bother.

love it.. its just nice to have some proper time with my family and a good excuse for a $$$$ up with my friends.
i can see why some people hate it, though.. if you are lonely it must be a terrible time of year.

One of my clients writes in her card every year:

"Christmas is the Disneyfication of Christianity"

Not a religious person myself, but I can understand where she's coming from.

I love it. I have been singing christmas songs since the start of december!! I cant wiat to open all my pressies :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Love being with my family to.

Agree with Gary though, it would tear me apart being alone this christmas :(

Anything to improve your Jokes Matt.

I'm completely indifferent to christmas. I like christmas dinner and the following week of turkey based meals but aside from that, I could absolutely take it or leave it. If I had kids, I might feel different about it.

Love it... definitely! :)

It's a great time for family to get together and spend some quality time.

I absolutely loathe xmas, too themed, too over stated, too in your face, too long, I think you get the gist over-hyped.....baaaahh humbug.

Scrooge No, just need a

I spent christmas alone ten years ago after I had separated. No decs - no cards - no xmas TV. It was wonderfull. I enjoyed being lonely that year :-)

Christmas for me has turned into one long drive with turkey dinners in-between. Last year it went something like this

xmas eve drive Gillingham to Sidcup and back, sort everything out and pack
xmas day start Gillingham then Sidcup then Maidstone then Gillingham
boxing day Gillingham to Maidstone

This year
Xmas eve, Gillingham to Dartford to Maidstone to Canterbury to Sheppy to Maidstone the ? to Gillingham or Sheppy

Xmas day Gillingham or Sheppy to West Malling then back to Gillingham

Boxing day Gillingham to Maidstone

next year im decorating the car rather than the house its where i spend all my time :(

Loathe it, nearly as much as I loathe New Years Eve.....

I wonder if Matt is getting a new keyboard for Christmas?! His current one must be virtually worn out!!!

I love Christmas, no work for 12 days and kick back with my sons. :woot:The only thing I dislike about Christmas is on Christmas Day I'll get to hold the same conversation with my Wife's Grandad that we've had for the last 18 years (no joke it's like groundhog day).:bang::bang: Also due to my father in law being partially deaf everyone shouts and then because there will be more than one conversation being held at any one time, the shouting gets louder and louder.:bang::bang: Add to the fact there will be 14 of us at the Mother in Laws and my Neice can be a right little madam. Other than all that it will be great. Can't wait for 15:36 tomorrow when I finish work.

I don't like it.....

It's stressful; the shops get too overcrowded with people spending insane amounts of money on gifts and food; you have to try and be nice to people you don't like and haven't seen in years; there's b****r all on tv; its over hyped and a huge anti climax.

I'd rather buy a gift for someone I love because I want to buy them a gift, not because the shops dictate that I should, only to find it half price a few days later. Christmas is far too commercialised for me. I am not religious either :) Bah Humbug!

Too many ponefivefiveheads around at this time of year. About time someone killed off all the old, recycled carp songs that get wheeled out again and again and again... Cracker jokes? Even Matt's are better. (OK, maybe not but cracker ones aren't exactly good...).

The only good thing about this christmas is that my wife has 2 weeks extra holiday on top of her annual allowance. Since one or the other (or even both) of us has been working in either the licensed trade or other hospitality based job for the past 25 years or so, it's the first christmas that we'll actually have some time together other than a couple of days spent travelling around to see family.

Then there are the presents. We've got a loft full of junk that people have given us over the years and have charity shopped/dumped as much again. Far better (IMO) to either not bother with presents at all of to simply give vouchers or even cash - at least then any carp you end up with is your own fault!!!

I could easily do without Xmas and give to the most worthy charity instead, but I have to "go with the flow" of the rest of the family.

All the expenditure is simply obscene in my view and in a lot of cases just drags some into more debt by by buying gifts that their family and friends do not need. Pop into a charity shop in the first few weeks of the new year you will see loads of unopened useless gifts.

New years eve, big non event for me, I have never been able to get exited over it. Maybe something to do with the fact I do not touch alcohol, my excuse or just bah humbug from me:D

This is exactly my point of view, and in doing so you buy the person something they may want or need, instead of buying them some bit of crap because that's all you can afford after having no money left because of forking out for everyone else.... Right now wheres that link for the D700

It's a kind of lose-lose situation. I'm an atheist.. why would I possibly want to celebrate christmas? I feel pressured to buy presents and get involved in the whole celebrations because otherwise I'm going to look like a scrooge and I know my mother would look at me in disdain if I was to announce I was having nothing to do with christmas.

But that said, it's one day a year that the family gets together so on that note it's not such a bad thing. However, I WON'T buy christmas cards. They're a waste of money and a waste of resources!

Not sure if Christmas has anything to do with religion anymore

I love it :)

I dont go mad with decorations, or presents, but its a very social time, and I get to see all my family and friends.

i hate it with a passion always bad things happen around xmas.

Xmas has been pretty much the same in our house for the last 25 years & none of the girls want it to change even though they are all grown up. Boyfriends are banished to their own homes on Christmas Day to see their folks & it is a traditional day of opening prezzies, scoffing & drinking.

Boxing Day however is when the outlaws from hell come around [all 18 of them] & my blood pressure rises dangerously. Why do you have to get together with people that you never see at other times of the year? Why do you hasve to listen to your father in law talking *****e? Why are other peoples children allowed to trash your house? Why feed them- if you don't they might go home earlier?

New Years Eve used to be a miserable night where you believe that everyone is having fun apart from you- most to be fair are as miserable as you are! Now we go out with friends for a meal that evening & now it is something to look forward to.

After New Years Day you then have the joys of work to look forward to again..............!

Happy Chrimbo- Bo Selecta!

I love Christmas, even more now we have a little girl who knows what it is :)
So looking forward to seeing her open her presents on the 25th and see her face light up!
Oh, and looking forward to the massive dinner too hehe
