Hello All, Iv left things to the last minute as I do and got myself a christmas backdrop to do some toddler and baby chrimbo shoots, problem is now its arrived I dont really like it! Iv been searching the web but cant find anywhere UK based to get a suitable backdrop for my needs, the best ones all seem to be US and wont get here in time and the UK ones all seem to be too narrow (Id really like 6ft+) or too crap tbh, has anybody got any links or suggestions for a good UK supplier?

Whats so bad with the one you bought ? Is it just bad quality ?

Hello Gaz, no the qualitys fine its just the design. I cant seem to find anything to get really enthusiastic about in the uk sites Iv found, so I went for kind of the best of a bad bunch and niw its here im a bit underwhelmed. Its a bokeh with a snowfall type effect, Im still going to use it but Im hoping theres some childrens photogs on here that may be able to point me in the direction of a better supplier that Iv missed in my googlings. It would be really nice to have an alternative that I can get excited over!

I don't understand what you mean by the above. :-(
"Bokeh" is a qualitative term. It is the way a lens renders out-of-focus points of light, and differs with different lenses (some give soft-edged circles, others give hard-edged circles or even doughnut shapes) . So there's no such thing as "a bokeh", and certainly not when describing a backdrop.
Do you mean that the cloth is a just a sort of blurry snow effect, maybe? That's the closest I can get, sorry.

What kind of backdrop are you actually looking for?

Morning, its an oof bokeh effect. No matter what f stop I use its going to have an bokeh look background. Its just not christmassy enough though. What kind of backdrop am I looking for? A christmassy one, im photographing toddlers and babies and want it as festive and unashamedly christmas as can be...even corny! Iv given up searching and Im building my own, with net curtains, christmas lights, fake presents and stockings...off out to B&M shortly!

Making your own was going to be my suggestion. I love your ideas for it too - and I like corny! B&M, Poundland and so on should be great places to find the kinds of things you're after.
I hope you'll post a photo or two to show us what you come up with.
 
I will for sure. Spent £45 and got most of what I need, I reckon anothe £20 and Im there. So much good stuff in B&M it was a real effort to not go on a cheesy yuletide frenzy!

Hello mate, iv been out and got the vast majority of stuff from B&M, christmas lights, some old style decs, big pair of voille curtains and some giant christmas crackers! Iv only spent £40odd...Iv not set it up yet as Iv had some personal crap going on and havent had time but Im hopefully going to set up soon...ill post some pics on this thread

I would be intrested to see the results as I find it most inspiring to see what can be acheived with some thought and creativity.
