Hi everyone, I've been asked to photograph a Christening for my cousin and just wondered if you had any tips? I'm using a Canon 1000D.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on the church and the vicar this could be a doddle or a nightmare, liaise with the vicar beforehand to find out what he will allow,as "Official" tog he may allow just you to take shots during the actual Christening itself but be prepared for him to say only set up shots after the service.
Check out the church as well because many are really dark and I can guarantee it will be no flash during the service so if you have a fast lens you will need it

All good advice

All good advice so far, also remember there will be other peoples children around and they may object to their children being photographed.

Do check out the church before hand, I would contact the person in charge of the church before hand and ask their advice and hopefully they will let you look around before hand. Remember you can set most shots up at the end of the service very well, which is usually an option. Many photographers forget a basic rule in this situation, its a religious service not a photoshoot! Oh also by the way, if you hold religious belief, do take part in the service and enjoy it!.
