Hi there, can anyone give any information on this lens ,good or bad:shrug: ..cheers

All I can tell you about Chinon Cameras is that they were made exclusively for, and only sold by Jessops. They weren't a bad camera AFAIAA, and the qualty and price was pitched under the usual competition in that price band - Pentax, Olympus etc.

Can't help with the quality of the lens I'm afraid, although I suspect it's likely to be a re-badged lens from one of the other brands.

I was a Chinon man for many years - fab they were as Pentax copies - however - a 6mp camera demands a good lens and Chinon were at best ok. Better to buy a better lens than 8mp of camera

I had a fab 70-300mm Nikon lens for my D100 - until I bought a D2Xs, which then showed the lens' imperfections

Point being - if your camera can resolve high quality, sticking a Chinon (or other cheapie) milk-bottle lens on the front isn't a good idea

My advice - buy a decent 6/8mp (or more if you're rich) camera and ALWAYS the best lens you can afford. Some people go for best (read most pixel) camera and cheapest lens cos they've run out of money - not a good idea

Just work on the 'weakest link' idea - the best image resolution is determined by the worst part of the equation. Fab camera with crap lens can often resolve less than a decent camera with a good lens

Hope that helped?
