Yes
Okay folks, we're on for this saturday, the weather at the moment is looking promising - might have some harsh light but I'd prefer harsh light to torrential downpours any day.

The attendance list is below, basically I'll print out the sheet below and take it with me and tick it off as people arrive (how very school trip like :p ). What this basically means is that if you're not on the list and you don't arrive till 11:00, we'll have already set off. To combat this, anyone that hasn't registered an interest but might show up needs to make sure that they either have my mobile number or the mobile number of one of the other attendees. If you would like my number, just drop me a pm.

So we'll meet between 10:00-10:30 outside the members entrance at Chester Zoo - this is by the bus stop and is to the right of the main entrance booths. I'll try and make sure that we are there early (10am) and I can hand out half price vouchers to people and such. If you are going to be late I can either wait outside for you or can come back out to meet you when you arrive (mobile numbers ;) ).

If anyone has any questions or anything, post a reply on this thread, drop me a pm or give me a call.

Matt

Would love to go but it's too far away for me :( Went last year with my mum and bro and it is a great day out, but it was 3 hour drive from Yorkshire, so goodness knows how long it would take to get there from Aldershot

Might do, depending on how certain things go in the middle of sept

Gonna have to pass on this one. Train is nearly 40 notes, plus travel at either end, plus entry, plus I have no money at the moment.
Pah.

It's pretty cheep to pop over the channel, so I need a lift from SW England, really...

I'm sure there might be someone who will be coming from where you need to come from, you can but ask :)

And you can have a half price voucher too.

Looking forward to going again and we were planning to go again anyway so may as well make it into an option for everyone else. It would be nice to get together again if anyone fancies a trip out. It is a nice place to walk around, the food isnt to badly priced, and lots to see, even without a camera.
I will have to have a play with the camera before then and see if I can get my head around not taking things on automatic and see what I get.
Hope some of you can join us.

I think i'll be up for this :)

30 minutes from my front door - I ought to be there really :)

Another meet
If it's not raining then i'll come along :)

that place is reachable in about 10mins for me :)

I'll see whats planned for the Saturdays......i might have that week off because i've got a trip to the Duxford air museum planned for the 26th

Yeah yeah you said that before and then didnt show ! ;)

I'll make sure he comes this time, I know where he lives, I'll go and sing to him from the driveway until he agrees to come out.

Can you sing at the Chester Zoo pay booths as well then please?

Might make it a little quieter :p

Will see what I have planned. Might drag the other half along to this, since we'll be cohabiting by then... eek!

I prefer the term, "Living in sin", it's got a much more enjoyable ring to it :D

Hope you can make it  Just promise you won't bring any spiders...unless you want to hear an 18st bloke shriek like a girl....

I can top that with a 23st bloke running away in a blind panic. Bloody things, I hate them. Although I can stand there and take a macro of a little one and Kate's pics didn't bother me all that much. Think if they are in the house it really bothers me, and if they are in the shower I cant get in there until I know its dead.

TBH Spiders don't bother me that much. Wasps...I hate (as SDK, DRZ and a couple more of you will testify :p)

Yeah wasps are horrible, there were loads of the buggers at Twycross too, what is this obsession they have with bins anyway?

British summer = wasps. There were a couple last time we went to Chester around the picnic areas but everywhere else was fairly clear, I think the Tiger's must eat them.

HAHA nice one..Although if youre trying to eat it, I would suggest a fork would make it much much easier...

As much as I think the thought of them running over me is /shudder worthy, I find I've grown to accept them over the years, and I'd love to start taking some macro photos of them (and other insects).

Wasps dont bother me at all. Unless I annoy it, its not going to sting me and as stinging is a reactionary response for them, flapping at them isnt going to help you on that front because if you touch the sting, it has no choice in the matter, its going to sting you.

The one time I have been stung by a wasp was when I was flapping at it as a kid.

Wasps sting you without regret or remorse - they can do it as many times as they want and they don't die.

They don't have that whole "If I sting him, I'll die" complex that bees have.

Little buggers they are.

omg, its those I can't stand, that wasn't very nice Kate.

 I had it lying around on my desk and thought why not. It's a skin. The spider is safely in her tank after moulting the other day.

I used to be massively scared of wasps. However, since having a nest in the loft last year, I seem to have developed a tolerance for them. As DRZ said, flapping at them only gets someone stung... usually me, because people bat them at you when they're flapping. I generally just ignore them now, unless they're in the car.

Quick random tip - Ant killer is very very good for killing wasps - I mean in the application of removing nests. It's much cheaper than wasp killer, but still does an extremely good job. Squirt it around all the nest entrances you can find - it takes a while to actually kill the wasps, so they'll pick it up and carry it everywhere first.

It doesn't rile them, either - as long as you don't irritate them by poking the nest or hopping about like a monkey, you'll be fine.
