Beginner's competitions (inc juniors)​

As soon as I get home from the zoo I will open a thread for pictures from the beginners. Everyone who considers themselves a beginner will be open to placing 3 pictures into this thread for consideration. I do not know Graham's competition and I have not decided on mine yet but once I do all your pictures will be judged against the two competitions.

Normal competitions.[/CENTER]

As soon as I get home from the zoo I will open a thread for pictures from everyone else. The thread will be open allowing you to place 3 pictures into it for consideration. Your three pictures will then be judged against the three criteria for the competitions below. You do not need to say which picture is for which competition and any of the pictures could win any of the competitions.

Thanks again to Darren for organising the meet and for putting all the effort in to aranging all the competitions and getting the sponsors to donate the prizes.

Congratulations to all the winners, the standard of entries was very high so we've all done really well to win. Well done also to those that came along and made the effort to enter. Remember it is the taking part that counts.

Oi Tracey......no more beginners competitions for you from now on. You're in with the experienced photographers now!!!!!!
 
Already told Tracey that as a winner she cannot enter beginners sections. I tried having a beginners section rather than a Junior section as an experiment and I hope that people think that it was a success. I do want some feedback about that part.

I judged the images with Helen in all 6 categories then asked each sponsor if they wanted to judge their own section. Only FITP did and picked the same winner as we did :thumbs:

There were some tough decisions to be made a some close misses. We let the beginners off with minor faults that would have hit a normal entry.

I need to know the memory card type from Rob for the Kerso competition but I assume it will be for the D300 so CF.

MBP competition, Red Snapper and Lencarta competitions, the prizes will come directly from the sponsors but I have FITP's prize here and will add it to the book that I bought as a prize and these will go to Tracey.


Seriously well done to everyone and particularly to Tracey who won 2 prizes judged in the end by two different people. You may have had lots of questions and you may have thought that some were silly but you listened and took it in! The chimp picture needs to be printed large and stuck on your wall :thumbs:

Julian,

You kept saying you were not going to enter BUT you came close to winner but were beaten by a beginner's picture than would have won the normal competition!

I haven't decided which camera I'll use the memory card in but as both my cameras are D300's then I guess a CF will fit perfectly. :thumbs:

My mistake, I got confused between your chimp pic and Rick's pic of the chimp sniffing the baby chimp's bum.

I enjoyed taking part and I think all the winners were truly well picked and rightly so.

The tiger might not have won though! I wasn't talking about your pictures re small faults :)

Chuffing heck - this is the first comp I've actually won (though I've not entered anything other than the TP monthly a few times) - does this mean I can advertise as an award winning photographer? ;) :lol:

Seriously though, looking at the other shots I can't believe mine was picked :eek: I'm happy though :woot: I suppose I now have to look at second hand kit to make the best value from the voucher :D

Oh yes, it is nice. Saw the one sent to Julian. I have a couple of the smaller ones but will probably add one to my next order. I'm getting the ring light when I have the cash together.
