Yes
I usually eat bananas, one a day, but cherries are out now, and last week and this week I've bought a punnet for a quid and eaten over two days. Both times, the day after, my guts have been, to be perfectly frank, rancid. What's going on?!

It is easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a camel to. Especially after a few cherries!

Apologies if I may have lowered the tone somewhat.

Sorry can't help you, I lost mine :(

Not all cherries are good to eat.
My cherry tree is laden, but eat them? No thanks.

Never buy them here - way too expensive! Eat loads in June - about €1.50 per kilo. Not noticed any extra gut rancidity!!!

Way back, way way back it was thought that uncooked fruit was poisonous because it gave people the runs. Fruit will give you the runs if you eat too much at a time or if you've not eaten any for a while. Bananas are probably the opposite though as they're meant to bind you up so maybe your guts were just protesting at the change?

:agree: Bananas...Potasium and fibre.
Cherries....Err, less so. More acidic I would imagine.
Please feel free to ignore my post . It is made with no knowledge or research whatsoever. :-)

My mum always said don't eat to many when i was a kid or you'll have a gripey tummy.

Missus eats a banana if she wakes up at night, it helps her get back to sleep. Munched my way through a bunch of grapes on my own. By the second day, they were turning, so I had to scoff them quick. They were not too good anyway, no taste. But for £1.50 a bunch, suppose I should not complain.

We forage a lot of fruit down here in Kent (not "scrumping" before anyone suggests it), and this usually consists of all kinds of wild cherries, then plums a bit later and then damsons.
I cannot remember having any tummy problems, so maybe I am used to it?

Cheers all, a bit of variety n the fruit department needed I think to avoid the gripey tummy. Trouble is at least the bananas are "bag lady safe" as in you dont get the old dears picking them up squeezing them and then invariably putting at least the first 3 back.

Maybe I should work my way to cherries via grapes and lion taming satsumas.

Not necessarily true, if you eat too many you OD on potassium and that REALLY isn't good for a harmonious stomach. I know this having done so on a 140 mile bike ride, by the end I was looking out for every hedge 'just in case', really not pleasant. I had probably eaten 8 or more bananas though and since then I have changed my fuelling strategy...

Am I safe on one a day?

You should try Soreen. It seems to release energy better.
