Checking an SSD?

Can anyone tell me if there is any software to check the integrity etc of an SSD (Samsung 803 series 128Gb).

I have been getting odd results on my PC when converting DVD boxsets to X-Vid.

I normally use DVDx 2.3 with an X-Vid codec and convert several episodes at once (usually between 4-24) putting the converted files onto a 55 Gb partition on the SSD.

This has caused me no problems until recently when I've started to convert "House" Season 1 to X-Vid.

The problem is that some episodes just suddenly stop at some indeterminate point and the DVDx 2.3 front end just vanishes like it does when I close it down.

Normally the front end still stays on the screen to show the conversion has finished.

The .avi is still on the SSD but not complete and won't play.

But if I put it through again then it completes as normal.

Because of this I am coming to the conclusion the SSD may be starting to develop a fault even though it's only a few month old.

I've tried Samsung SSD Magician and an error scan on HD Tune but it shows up nothing.

What leads me to the SSD is that the faulty files always seem to show up in roughly the same position.

If I have 4 files (1-4 etc) the files that fail are 1 and/or 3 not 2 or 4.

Any answers anyone?

I think there is one call ssdlife.

doesn't really sound like a drive issue.. but to rule it out have you got another drive you can run the conversion from?

I usually put the DVDs (seperated into episodes) onto my Ramdrive (12Gb) and the results onto the SSD.

But will try putting the results onto the Ramdrive and see what happens with 4 of them on there - have already tried 2 episodes with no problem.

Tried SSD Life but that didint seem to do much just said it was ok and gave the hours etc it has been used.

Well It's NOT the SSD!

Tried converting 5 episodes of 2 different Series (House and Buffy) on the Ramdrive and only 3 made it.

They all went through the first pass (of a 2 part process) and then 3 completed the conversion but 2 failed on the 2nd pass.

So I'll keep exploring further.
