Cheapish Nikon fit Flash radio triggers

Sorry if its been done to death.

I use a Nikon SB700 off camera a bit, but currently use a cheapy cable - this is limiting to say the least.

Anyone recommend a cheap remote trigger kit that would do the job please ?
 
from the description,

To use this set as a wireless remote control, plug in the included N-Cable to both the receiver and your camera's compatible input. Make sure the receiver's and the transmitter's switches are set to "CAMERA" mode and then use the transmitter to wirelessly autofocus and take pictures.
- Similarly you can employ a wired remote method simply by plugging in the N-Cable to the transmitter alone and proceeding to use this without the receiver.

The set i got was a package. It came with a speedlight, mini soft box, and triggers. The wires have stayed in the box since it arrived.

Basically, stick your transmitter onto your hot shoe. stick the receiver onto the bottom of your speed light.
Turn both units on, and ensure they are both on the same channel.
Press shutter release and the flash will fire.

I take it they dont do TTL, which is why the others are dearer ?
 
Im not sure i follow? The kit i got is has TTL, but (and forgive my ignorance) isn't that down to the speed light? Wireless triggers just send a 'flash now' message to the actual light don't they? I thought it was the actual light unit which did all the measuring etc.
 
For TTL flash metering to work over radio, the transmitter needs to be able to trigger a test flash, get the results from the camera (its the camera that does the measuring, through the lens) via the hot shoe data connector, and send power settings to the receiver. The receiver needs to be capable of setting the power on the speedlight it's sitting under. Those Neewer FC-16's will not do this - they are simple centre-pin triggers. The usual solution for TTL (and HSS) over radio for Nikon is the Yongnuo YN622N + YN622N-TX They are a bit more expensive at around £30 each.
 
As above for TTL the YN622n with the 622N TX work well, used it with my D90/D750 and SB800 flash.

Hi Phil would you say they are a better buy than the Cactus V6 triggers ?
Do they give you the option of controlling the individual flashes manually i.e. Manual power as opposed to ttl
The SU800 from Nikon gives you control but as I'm sure your probably aware it's not a radio trigger.

Not better, but maybe as good and cheaper.

IDK how the cactus operate, but the YN's control 3 groups independently, and each group can have a number of flashes in them and can be set in TTL OR M and set FEC or power levels..

Are you unable to use CLS?

I have yongnuo rf603, yongnuo YN622n and a bog standard pc cable to use with studio heads

TBH i use the pc cable most of the time now!
 
Set the pop up flash as a commander and it should trigger the sb700 off camera.

Optically ?
If the pop up still flashes then it wont be as much use as Id like tbh.....

I got a little attachment that sat in the hotshoe to prevent any preflash annoying the subject. You can set the pop up to zero power in the commander menu.

It's a very easy way to start off camera flash with the Nikon

What body do you have?

D300...until my D500 budget is fulfilled...
Can you link me to to the hotshoe thing please ?
 
And just to add some detail....

When I buy my D500 ,what then ? No on camera flash ?

a Nikon su800 or another flash can be used as a on camera commander :)

or one of these

Im looking into the yongnuo option at the moment as mentioned by Phil V :)
