Here's the situation. Higher management watched Case the other night on Channel 4. The remainder of the series will be streamed only. So can any of the techies on here advise the best and cheapest way to watch this on the TV please. Here's the current digital status in our house

Telephone line in and router are upstairs but TV is downstairs. However I do have a Samsung tablet and android smart phone

The TV is not smart - an old HD ready Panasonic

All advice appreciated

Amazon fire TV stick. Can stream from phone to it, connect to online TV services and even install other Android apps.

TV will need hdmi port.
It is WiFi network connection.

Chromecast by a country mile if you have existing Android devices, the integration is excellent. Speaking as someone who runs various Kodi boxes, HTPC, Android SmartTV, Amazonfire stick.

As above the Fire stick or Chromecast options are among the cheapest options

Chromecast or Fire. I've got both on our ancient TV and they work well. Very slick.

Thanks for the advice looks like fire / chrome. Off to do some research

I tried the Amazon Firestick - had loads of trouble with it. Hdmi lead from PC to tv works best for us.

Thanks for this leaning towards the chrome cast as I don't have an Amazon prime account. However can any users please confirm if Quest catch up is available via both.

Many thanks

from the quest tv webpage you just load the video you want on your mobile/tablet/pc and you do get the cast button appear once you get past the adverts

edit - from a pc you'd have to cast the whole chrome browser tab and full screen it i think as the video player doesn't directly have a cast option.

chromecast are ok, i used one for over a year when working away on scotland just using an EE 4G mobile router.
They do need to be near the router though i find.

Now TV box here, very cheap, and if you side load Plex onto it, you open up a world of streaming options.

Plex also has plug-ins (likes apps within the app) that allow you to stream from places like YouTube etc, you can even add tv streams to it.

It's all i use to watch TV now.
