Does anyone know of any good quality cheap third party batterys for Canon 7D?

Is there a recognized good alternative?

Ive seen on ebay there's plenty of high cap decoded battery's. But no way of knowing if there safe to use and wont explode on the camera.

So any ideas?
 
I bought a couple off ebay for my D5000, cant remember which seller , but they work fine....were about £14 for two.
 
The fact i paid that much for a 7d means i need to save where else i can :)
 
A few of us have used ebay ones, properly chipped and work ok... a couple of threads if you do a search

I bought some 5d batteries from 7dayshop. 6 pounds! 6 POUNDS! And they last longer than the official ones.

What you save on cheap batteries, you can more than spend on your insurance deductable if the battery leaks all over the inside of your camera.

Not a risk I'll take, but knock yourself out! :)

There are loads of us on TP who have copy batteries and have never had a problem. Sadly I'm not going into the table tennis style arguments but £54 for a genuine made in China one or £20 for an Genuine OEM one made in China, probably in the same factory.

If you want to get yourself some OEM Canon 7d batteries look for Batterybusiness on the bay.

Loads of us have LP-E6 copies, clones, ripoffs whatever you want to call them and the are identical to Canon ones, they even come in a Canon box.

They don't leak, blowup, going into Nuclear meltdown, paint the town red or blow bubbles. They just work. I have 2 and you can't tell them apart from my origional Canon battery.
 
Chris, no doubt they might be made by the same company in the same factory, but when an officially licensed Nikon battery leaks in an officially licensed Nikon camera, I have recourse with Nikon under the warranty.

When a random brand generic (or "forgery" in the case of some eBay sellers) non-authorised battery leaks all inside my camera, I'm screwed.

No argument, simple fact. I've seen too many horror stories with 3rd party batteries & grips over the years.

Like I said, knock yourself out, it's your gear.
 
Well im buying a cheaper battery grip... I plan to put the extra cheap batterys in that. And use the official one in the body when i want to keep things slim.

So if they do leak. They will leak in the cheap grip and not in the main body.

considered looking for genuine batteries on eBay. I just picked up a genuine Nikon EN EL3e brand new for £20.. I know its not cheap but better than the £60 RRP.

The thing with Ebay is even the ones marked genuine probably aren't genuine :)

Ill try out one of the copys when i get my camera grip. There going in that anyway
 
I've had a lot of 3rd party batteries and official batteries. You get duds in each. I've had official batteries that report 0 in the scale yet last hardly any time! For the money I'd go for 3rd party. All batteries will definitely fail over time so you might as well take the smallest hit possible. I've also never had a camera battery leak (but had a few AAs).
