Hello all

I'm looking to buy my 7 year old daughter a cheap point and click with easy functions and one that may double as a family walk about.
Eventually I'll buy her a starter level SLR should she enjoy it, as I did with her older sister, or we all do a hand me down when I upgrade :).

The Nikon S2700 is about 30 quid here in the Middle East so it's a good price for a child of this age who may drop it!
It also comes in nice colours that little girls like!
It would double up though as a family snapper for when we're out n about and don't want an SLR around our necks.

So, has anyone got the S2700, has anyone heard bad things, or have you any other suggestions?

Thanks for your comments

Neil

No pearls of wisdom from anyone?

I'm now also looking at the Panasonic SZ7 and the FT20.
Withe the FT20 being water proof and shock proof (apparently it can be dropped from 1.5m), it may be better for my daughter and for us - we spend a ot f time at the beach and pool living in Dubai!
But with it's cheep price tag I'm wondering if such options affect image quality too much.
As noted, it's for my daughter and for family shots when at the likes of the beach, so I doubt I'll be looking for prints bigger than A4
