I’m looking for a cheap off camera flash to use to light the background, when trying some high-key type portraits. I have Cannon 50D & 430ex (& on order a softbox and RF-602 trigger’s).

Anyone have any idea if this cheap flash will work with the RF-602s? Or can recommend an alternative on the cheap, if poss.

Many thanks for your help,

If you check he traders threasds on here, hve a look at Flash in the Pan's thread. He sells the yongnuo's and is very knowledgable on them. He will do you a good price as well.

If he has them in stock ;)

Yes, the flash will work. I'd look at the YN-560 though. More powerful and far more controllable (or so I'm led to believe). They're £63 in the UK on fleabay

I just got a YN-460 II from FITP and find it great - the 560 and 460 are the same power, but as the power figures quoted are using the 105mm zoom on the 560 (no zoom on the 460) the 560 appears more powerful, but it's not.

Simple to use, cheap and effective....

I have two of the mk I versions of that flash, one of the TTL models and they've been reliable. They work with the RF-602.

I can't make an informed comment on the seller you've linked to, but I have used hkyongnuophotoequipment (Hong Kong but ships small items quickly in my experience).
