Yes
I'm on a rather tight budget, but need a flash which I can use with some ebay triggers and ideally need it this week, so cant rely on internet auctions.

I have a Sony Alpha 350, but I'm not after TTL or anything (cant get this with ebay triggers anyway)... could I get a cheap flash from jessops such as the 300AFD (does it have manual controls?).. or maybe even the 360 AFD which can be used TTL with sony?

I already have a HVL-F36AM which gives me TTL, so was only after this as a second flash.

Dont really want to spend much more than £120 so cant quie afford a HVL-F42AM at the moment.

Not sure if I should get sony dedicated flashed and use the Sony wireless system, or if i should go the manual strobist route with triggers. Been reading strobist, and the strobist flickr group, but still none the wiser!?

300afd doesnt have manual control, but 360AFD does.

do you have some ebay triggers already?

The 360AFD's can be operated optically so you wont need wireless triggers if the flash can be seen

I'd go strobist route and get a manual flash then. Saying that I know nothing about the Sony gear and only know a bit about my canon stuff..

You have one that can hotshoe on your alpha and TTL so makes sense to get a flash to use off camera ie a manual one I'd have thought. does the HVL-F36AM have manual controls?

I've got the Jessops 360AFD and it's absolutely fine for this sort of thing - manual controls, optical slave if you need it, full tilt/turn etc. There were some being sold off pretty cheaply recently too and if you're only ever going to use it off-camera you can get one of the non-dedicated versions.

Or look out on ebay for something similar - again, if it's just for remote triggered flash then you can get any brand that has manual controls. Just check what the control system is for it - hotshoe/PC cord etc - and that your triggers will work with it.
