Cheap flash for Canon 700D, with FULL AUTO capability

Hi All

First post on here, so please be gentle ....

I recently upgraded my ageing Canon 300D for a new 700D ( I couldn't justify the expense of going to 70D and certainly not a 7D),
still only take amateur family pics and the obvious holiday snaps.

But I'm looking to fit an external camera mounted flash, again I can't justify the cost of a OEM Canon unit,
so looking at the Nissin, Yongnuo, Meike copies .... but which one ??

I want it to be the most faithful device and it'll ONLY EVER be mounted on the camera body
(not interested in its ability to to be master/slave or for curtains etc)

But I'd also want it to work in FULL AUTO when the camera is also in FULL AUTO
(so i'm guessing it needs to have E-TTL function? )

Looking at the Meike mk580, Yongnuo YN565EX

But what would the community out there recommend or have experience that works,
please be sure it'll knowingly work with the EOS 700D though

Don't worry about the compatibility, ETTL is a communication protocol, if it says it's ETTL it'll work with your camera.

So most of the differentiators are things that are more complex than you want to deal with, making advice difficult. The biggest factor might be build quality, so Metz or Nissin would score higher than Yongnuo, make sure it's got a bounce and swivel head (really important because straight on flash looks terrible)

Yongnuo 568EX II for about £100 on Ebay. Full ETTL, rear curtain sync, high-speed sync. Excellent. I've got one and the 565 plus the Yongnuo ETTL flash triggers.

If you are only doing family shots in small groups, consider the Canon 270EX or a used 220EX
