cheap and cheerfull cf cards

For some time now, when considering using an internet company I am not familiar with, I go on to Google and type 'the company name' complaints to see what turns up. I have been surprised how often I have seen stuff that has put me off using the company I was checking out. In this case I googled UKDVDR complaints and make no comment on this forum as to my findings.:whistling:

Aren't these being re-branded as 8gb Sandisk Extreme1V :D

i know what you mean kavkav

i imagine most suppliers trading on the internet have unhappy customers at some time

having said that i have used them a few times with no problems and it wouldnt worry me to risk them for some cheap emergency backup cards

I'm fairly sure I have bought from here in the past without problems.

All together now in your best pantomime stylee - Oh yes they did...

I came home today to find the two I had ordered sat on the doormat. My TV program finished just before these came available at 99p down from £12.89 and I already had an account with UKDVDR so I thought I'd have a bash.

I must admit to a fair amount of skeptacism after the earlier Sandisk thread on here but after shelling out a whopping £4.77 for 2 of these 8Gb cards delivered, Santa seems to have turned up with the goods.

So - Whats the catch then

I originally thought that they would be too slow to be useable but they are rated at up to 24Mb/sec. I havent done any scientific checks but they are at least the speed of my ultra II cards and haven't frozen or corrupted or failed in my camera in any way so far, admittedly I've only had them 5 mins.

Well then, reliability must be poo - When I first stuck the card in my PC it wanted to format the card so I let it-it failed which then lead me to think I'd be sending them straight back-however I then stuck it in my camera and it formatted it fine and since then its worked with everything I've tried it in-I've not had any CHA errors and I've tried filling the buffer in the camera etc to give it a bit of a hard time and its taken it all in its stride. I've had a card test prog running on it for a while too now and had no problems so we'll just have to see how it goes.

I only originally wanted one card but it would have been rude to not spend the extra 99p for the second card as the postage would be the same-I just waste money I do.

I don't know if I'd use one as a primary card, but as spares they are more than up to the task.

Thanks for the heads-up Santa (aka Ells)

Its out of stock, I have also used that site a few times for blank cd's and dvd's with no problem.
