Walking past my local charity shop and sitting in the window was a Olympus om10, Typical as I bought a praktica off eBay the other day. I had play with it in the shop but nothing was working viewfinder was just black and film lever was locked solid. Is it something easy to fix if so is it worth a buy its marked at 25 quid

Well they won't work without a battery, anyway I'd give it a miss even if it was working, although the Zuiko 50mm lens on them is very good. Now if it was a Minolta X-500 with lens going for £25.......................................

A school boy error by me there not thinking about a battery

Most likely just needs a battery, but it's still overpriced. I bought mine with 3 lenses for £12!

Jamie....it's best not to rush to buy film gear as there are some great bargains around...for my collection of 35mm cameras (about 14) all except one was under £20 and all with lenses. I have loads of 35mm lenses and my most expensive one was £28 and most were under £10.

Battery. You don't say if it has a lens? Why not make them an offer but make it low and don't be afraid to walk away.

Now, how many carry a spare battery in their pocket for such moments?:cuckoo:

Not specifically for such moments but I do have a few LR44s in my camera bag. TBH, if I was in the market for an OM10, I would buy one from a charity shop even if it was a bit overpriced. I treat charity shop purchases as a donation to the charity with a bonus coming my way and I have been known to step in when someone makes a lowball offer and buy the item for full sticker price...

Ebay is great for cheap OM-10's. They don't seem to go for much more than £10. A lot of Olympus stuff can be picked up cheaply on ebay.

I recently put together a small OM2-SP outfit. Bargains found on ebay were a Zuiko 100 to 200mm zoom for £9.99, a Zuiko 50mm F1.8 lens in pretty much mint condition for £5 & a T20 flashgun for 99p. I am a bit suprised by how little the Olympus gear goes for compared to the Nikon stuff that I am more used to buying. It is not as if Olympus gear is bad stuff.
