Hello all,

I was wondering if there is a simple way of changing the directory that Lightroom saves all of it's data to. At the moment it is C:\Documents and Settings\Biz\My Documents\My Pictures\Lightroom but I should be getting my second internal hard drive soon so I want to locate my data to a different drive. Is there a way to do this without reinstalling the entire package?

Thanks :)

2 ways.

1) Start a new database and create the file on the new drive
2) Copy or move the existing folder to the new drive then run LR and open the database file.

I have LR set to ask which database to use when it opens as I run different one for different types of job and also create a new one for every wedding, etc. I also have a shortcut menu on the taskbar that links to the database files so I can just open one by selecting it from the menu.

Great, thanks pxl8 I really appreciate it. Will this work even though I always use the option "Copy photos to a new location and import"? I would imagine that if I copied the directories containing the Lightroom images it wouldn't be able to find them then using the database file. Maybe I'm being silly .

If you copy/move the database folder/files and the raw files are also stored there then the first time you open the moved database you'll need to tell LR where the new location of the files. In the library you'll see the folder name in red, right click and select locate missing files and follow the prompts.
