changing a TIFF file to a JPEG?

okay...i did a photomerge of 3 JPEG images in CS3,and saved them as a TIFF file.i then wanted to make further adjustments in CS3,and the adjustments i want to make[shadows highlights]are greyed out,so can i change a TIFF file to a JPEG,as when i go and save it,there isn't an option for JPEG showing :bonk:

The tiff is probably 16 bit.
Look in Image .. Mode. If so simply tick 8 bit and the greyed out bits should return
