I'm looking to buy a portable hide and stumbled across this via google: Chair Hide. Does anyone use one?

Whenever I tried using hides I found myself craning my neck to look around or out the back if there was little to see in front. Now I dress head to toe in realtree gear so I have the ability to see all around. At least that will keep the wind off your back.

Thanks, yes the Wildlife Watching Supplies dome hide is what I've been looking at, it is just a bit expensive for me at the moment.

I dress head to toe in Advantage Timber and it works very well, except when walking round Morrisons, I got some very funny looks. :)

... It's well made and comfortable.
I may give it a try, it's hard to tell from photos what the quality will be like.

I decided to give the chair hide a go and bought it from the same company but via ebay for £15 less, £70 total.

The hide itself is built from sturdy metal hoops attached to one of those collapsible travel chairs. It's all one unit, you sit in the chair and pull the hide over your head from behind:

The front panel can be unzipped for a wider view:

There's a smaller front window with netting:

There are two small side windows on each side, each with net and cover:

Initially I'm very pleased with it, expecially for the money. It seems very well made and sturdy, I just need to test it in the field. It's quite heavy, so more a case of finding somewhere and leaving it for a while than carrying around everywhere.

Im very tempted to get a 2 man version of this for when I go to scotland next spring. What is the weight like? Would it be too combersome to carry in addition to all the camera kit if you were out and about?

It's heavy, the one man is almost 12lb and the two man is 17lb. I think you'd need to set it first and come back to it with your camera gear.
