Hi all

looking to buy some more CF Cards for my D70S. At the moment I have a 4GB Sandisk at 800x. I do have problems with this card in the camera, namely I get up to around 200 shots then the card seems to become corrupt. Data Recovery usually retrieves my data but card then has to be formatted which the camera refuses to do so have to do it in the PC. If I use a 2GB Card (not sure of speed) its perfect, the 4GB card works fine in other cameras/devices - maybe the card is not compatible with the camera.

On Nikons site the recommended is: Lexar Media 80x WA* USB Series 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB

I shall have a look around for the above on my memory etc, do I need to be looking at 80x cards or will faster work ??

Thanks

Faster cards will work.
The speed of the camera writing to disc is the bottleneck.
If you get a slower card that becomes the bottleneck. So, a fast card will not affect the camera, the limitation is what the camera is able to do.

The recommendations for the camera were written when these speeds were the best available - some 10 to 15 years ago.

I've found the Mymemory is normally the cheapest, and sometimes 7dayshop.

OK thanks kendo1, I'll see if I can get a new 4GB transcend from mymemory, it may be the certain brand that I'm using that isn't working properly.

I've found an 8GB Lexar, for the same price as 4GB Sandisk, Might as well get an 8.

I have a D200 and bought a 16 Gb, enough for about 600 images. Prices are pretty good for this size.

Whatever you do bin that card, the day will come when you can't recover your data.

Indeed Swissy, Its one that I keep kicking around for test purposes only...I've ordered a new shiny 8GB CF so hopefully will have no bother.

I have read on the internet though that the D70S can fall out with and take offence to its card slot, hoping that is not the case.
