Can anyone recommend a good cf card reader.

For use with sandisk extreme 3 cards.

If you are using a laptop, and you've an express card slot the get an Express Card CF adapter. Delkin amongst others do them.

However if it's a desktop a good USB -2 version will do fine. The limiting factor is the speed of the controller in the CF card. I have some Lexar UDMA (300x) cards, and use a UDMA USB reader for them. Using a Firewire 800 reader improves the transfer rate only by about 15%. Again this is down to the controller in the card

I would say just don't go for a dirt cheap one. I got a very cheap one from scan and it just would not read every card, in the end I got a Trust USB 2 reader and it works just fine.

thanks for the replys

i like the look of the SanDisk Extreme 2.0 USB reader.

Remember they have a max speed of 30mbs, and the standard speed now is 30mbs so possibly this time next year this speed will increase, also you are limiting yourself to Compact Flash only.

I would do a search on here as there was a lengthy discussion and a hands on test if I'm correct.

At the end of the day it's your dosh! :D
