Just in case anyone was thinking of going to Cemlyn Bay to photograph the terns before they leave, here's a word of warning - most of them have left already. There was only 2-300 sandwich terns and a few artctic/commons yesterday compared to something like 7000 birds altogether a couple of weeks ago, according to the tern warden.
 
Yes, it was very strange. They had a good breeding season though, apparently. I think I remember you saying on here that the first week in August was the best time to get real closeups of the birds so I was a bit worried I was going to be too early!
 
I can't say I blame them as the weather here has been more October than July, but I do hope they find good feeding grounds where ever they have gone as this years young will still be being fed mostly by the adults.
