CD ripping to be legalised in UK

As we should all be aware, ripping CDs (even for personal use) to MP3 etc is currently illegal in the UK. However, it will be legalised on 1st June 2014. http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/30/uk-format-shifting-exceptions/ Hopefully, the ripping of DVDs will soon follow suit.

Quite agree, Neil! IMO, Sony (who are one of the more protective labels IIRC) sort of shot themselves in the foot when they were chucking (?)SonicStage ripping software in the box with their MP3 players! Hopefully the DVD ripping will soon be legal - far easier to transport a card or 2 full of films than an external drive and a case of disks!

I believe ripping of DVDs is also included. It refers to other media shifting

I saw that DVDs are included on the BBC site yesterday. Hoping that some easy to use software for ripping them for iPlayer will appear soon so I can take a few films for flights!
