Cd drive help

My Cd drive has just started making a 'vibrating' sound in between songs, I spose when accessing (?) Does this mean it is possibly about to die?

May need cleaning or the disk itself might have a mark or something

Sounds like its on its last legs to me - you could try cleaning it as it could be some dust or something on the laser lens (?) You'll need a CD cleaner for that (a CD with a little brush embedded in it)

I will get a cd cleaner and give that try.
I think that this drive has been in the machine for quite a while now and I just seem to recall this happening before on another PC, think it had to be replaced.
Ah well, I'll give cleaning a try first, thanks for the help

Mine did that... then died Very easy to replace though (and that's coming from someone with no idea about PC's at all )

Looking around at the prices, I think it would be just as well to replace it, just could of done without that lil bit of extra expense at the mo.
They say things go in threes, I'm now on my fifth thing this week

I agree, it's probably as cheap to replace as it is to buy a cleaning disc.

Make sure first that it's not just the one cd that's bad though...

No it isn't the one cd, have played several today, happened each time
And as you said just as cheap to replace, I'm surprised at just how much the prices have come down over the years
