I have searched through the past threads in this forum and can't find anything on photographing catwalk models. I have found studio models but not catwalk models and i was just wondering (because i am shooting a catwalk tomorrow) if i should use flash or not? is it likely to irritate people like it would in a gig situation? would it make the model look flat?
i can't change the direction of the flash as it is attached to my camera (i haven't the money to get a flash gun as of yet but am working on it!)

i am assuming that the following settings would be right? please correct me if i'm wrong!

ISO - 800?
shutter speed - roughly in the middle, maybe a stop or 2 below - hopefully around 1/60
f number - ?

I am not used to using a full manual yet and i am still getting used to my Canon EOS 1100D (which is what i will be using). Hope someone can help?
Thanks!

What kind of catwalk? Gonna make a big difference if it's local arts college or Paris Fashion Week....

OK - then I'd use flash ;)

(Professional catwalk is usually nicely lit and IMO flash destroys the look)

Aim for an exposure that's about 1 stop below ambient and turn the flash on. Oh and definitely think about a monopod.

hey, thanks for the tip, i'll sort out and upload my results within the week :) it went well and i tried flash but it didn't come out very good and i should've used a faster shutter speed if possible but some of them are ok....their salvageable.........kind of. lol anyway i'll post them soon :) thanks for the help :)

i know i said i would get them up within the week but i had a busy week last week lol, i just tried to upload them but the filesize is too big so i will need to resize them (obviously) this will will happen at some point but it may be some time before i put them up as i go back to college tomorrow and am starting exams :) thanks for the tips and support though :)
