Hi, so set up a hide with couple large tree branches dug upright into ground, set day old chicks on top, set trail cam, picked up cam today and have cat's eating the bait for the Owl's.
Question is how can I deter cat's away, my hide is on farm land so a few cottages around and some people love cat's, would not harm a cat just want a deterrent to stop them.
Thanks, Russ.

You could try a manure of some sort, chicken etc.. it's a strong smell and cat's aren't keen on it, that should put them off eatting your bait as they don't like food near mess.

I’ve only just seen this old post. I tried the Silent Roar pellets linked above to try to keep next door’s cat from crapping in our garden. They made absolutely no difference, so save your ££s. I have to go out regularly with a shovel and then dump the mess in the dog waste bin out in the street.

Chili powder/juice on the bait can work and apparently it only affects mammals - not birds. BUT, some cats (and squirrels!) develop a taste for the spiciness... Orange peel and coffee grounds are also supposed to deter cats.
