I have my cataract surgeries booked for my left and right eyes. Hopefully I won't need glasses for distance viewing afterwards. I've always found it difficult taking pictures with glasses, so really looking forward to the possibily of not having to squash my glasses up to the camera to see the frame properly.

Is there anyone else here that has had lens replacements? How did it affect your picture taking? And how long was it before you could get behind the camera again after surgery?

Not actually me, but my mum had cataracts removed and lens implants done on both eyes at Moorfields (they spaced the operations out over a couple of months though). It was a very simple and highly effective op, I'm sure you'll notice a massive improvement pretty much straight away. Bear in mind too my mum's op was over 30 years back, so techniques are probably even better now.

From memory she took a couple of weeks to heal completely and get 100% sight back. She'd previously worn glasses for reading but has never needed them since (she's in her 90s now).

All the best, hope everything goes well for you. ;)

MiL had both her eyes done about 10 years ago and went from around -10 dioptres down to spec free. Just starting to need specs again now but only minor ones needed compared to her old ones. Absolutely life changing. Poor old thing is now being treated for ARMD so having injections into the eyes as and when deemed necessary but that's completely unrelated to the lens surgery (other than affecting the same organs!) IIRC it took a week to 10 days to be back to (what passes for) normal (for her!)
