I've been getting a problem with transferring images from memory card to computer.

Process: Plug SD card into reader, open 2 windows, drag images from card folder to "dump" folder on my PC. I'm using the Lexar professional USB3 dual card reader plugged into a USB3 port.

The process begins, then randomly stops then randomly starts up again (then stops/starts again maybe). No other programs running, no AV running, happens on more than one card (1 card for my normal camera, 1 card for the walkabout P&S and 1 for my IR - different sizes and manufacturers). Below you can see how it's beginning its second "stoppage" whilst downloading. Sometimes I can plug the same card in and it'll download them all with no problems.

Has anyone come across this?

Get it all the time across flash devices. Read into it bit and it's supposed to be down to the controller restricting data to stop the chip overheating during prolonged transfer.

Do you find the memory card/flash drive gets quite warm? My lexar usb3 microsd reader gets pretty damn hot.

Thanks Neil. I don't know to be honest, I spent my time glaring at the screen but I'll be sure to check next time.

There was a lot of other stuff about motherboard drivers and write buffers etc. But I've seen it across systems (all up to date) and transferring between flash and ssd/pci.
