Probably got a mate coming over this Sat eve with his new stead, be nice to go get some photos of our cars but it will be dark by then. Anyone got any good suggestions for places to shoot a car at night?

I guess the classic is an underground car park, or multi-story etc, but I believe the one in my town closes in the evening.

I have a tripod so that isn't an issue. Just trying to think of somewhere interesting?!

Where do you live might help?

I'm guessing you did the shoot last night so this is probably late anyway.

If you can get into a city or town then that would work well. Speedlights would help but you haven't said you've got them no worries.

Something like this (This was shot with speedlights).

Underground car parks are good (I've used them loads), but they are rather boring unless it's for the right shot.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing the pics

Dal - lovely image - assume was a long exposure, going on the large light in the middle. How many speedlites were used? I have one... :(

In the end didnt get a chance to do any photos, as it was dark by 4pm and we were having a drive in each others cars and doing some 0-60 runs with my timing device. Run out of time.

Thanks. Was a fairly short exposure (4 seconds I think) as I was using the speedlight to light the car up.

That was with 2 speedlights. I do need to get a couple more though.

sorry for the noobish question, but whats a speedlight?
No need to aplogise.

Speedlight / Strobelight / Flashgun. All mean the same thing.

Basically one of these but I fire them from lightstands rather than from the camera

What power were they set to out of interest? Also what position?

Would be good to se a 'set up' shot as to how you did this.

Lovely effect and would be useful for others I'm sure!

I think they were at about 1/4 power and about 4-5m's away from the car.

Ah, I don't have many setup shots lol.

I will do some for one shoot though. If you go on flickr and search for setup shots then you will see loads. That's what I used to do but to be honest, it's not as helpful as actually trying it out and making mistakes though as I found out
