I have been asked to take a photo of a car from the outside with 4 people inside (2 front, 2 rear) in focus and was wondering what people would think the best way of doing this would be .
I do have 3 radio remote flashguns at my disposal. I was also thinking about using my polarising filter to reduce the reflection on the windscreen.

Not the easiest ask.

Reflections are going to be an issue, I have been known to hang blinds (white shower curtains work well) to eliminate unwanted reflections on bodywork, also useful for diffusing flash. usually something can be rigged with cord/cable ties. a weighted light-stand etc.

I would probably be looking at as wide a lens as possible to keep the depth of field, do the side windows need to be rolled up, or can they be rolled down?

How much easier would this have been if it were a convertible.

I had forgotten about the reflections, will make sure I take a few bits to help reduce those.

The side windows can be rolled down but the car is the new Ford Fiesta so not the biggest of cars. Think it would be worth putting a flash or other light source through the side windows (down) to help create depth in the faces.

Would have much nicer to have a convertible, to do this with.

Will a polariser help cut down the reflections with multiple light sources?

I've used it when shooting rallys in good light to cut down on the windscreen reflections.

can the passengers sit on the open window frames?

You could use the flash guns with modified output (brollies, bounced backwards off reflectors etc) but for lighting inside the car with people I'd use a permanent light source, perhaps one or two of those car fluorescent tube lights, or led lights? (better than halogen or bubls as not hot).

We hired some led light panels at work for some stuff we were doing and they were brilliant.

edit: These were the panels we hired. Very good and controllable (but expensive)

I too would be tempted to use some lighting inside the car. And for gods sake clean the windows first. Generally speaking I only ever notice what a state my windows are in when I look at a photo I've taken through them.
