Does anyone know of a car insurer with whom it is possible to use plain voice communication , in English, over the phone without constantly repeating/ asking for repetiton.

A few days ago I came close to having a nervous breakdown trying to understand/be understood in order to request a copy of a letter that had been sent recently, but was unreadable due to poor print quality.
I have no idea where the person I spoke to was located (he did say eastern Europe), but I was dumfounded that any UK based company could employ people with a grossly inadequate ability to communicate.

Direct Line have always been very good (until renewal when they jack the price up)

The daily car I just use whoever is well known on the comparisons...

For the Escort I use Coops who are South London based and I'm really impressed with them. I think they also do 'standard' car insurance too.

On the surmise that you mean a UK call centre...

I have used LV for some years and my phone Comms with them in regard to both claim and renewal have been 100% AOK

+1 for LV. Alternatively go to a broker and let them do the hard work, for their commission

In the days before the curse of call centres etc. I used a broker and I had forgotten how trouble free that was compared to the present.
Come renewal time I normally go to Money Saving Expert. Getting insurance that way is confined to online form filling (until it is necessary to phone the insurance provider for some reason).
I think I will explore the broker angle again.
Thanks everyone for the replies.
