I've just got my new car insurance documents from norwich union. For some reason I decided to read the small print and guess what I'am not insured for driving to and from work! So I rang them up and asked what was going on the guy who answered the phone said " most accidents occur when the roads are busy and this happens to be in the morning and evening rush hour when people are driving to and from work. Hence we do not offer cover as standard for this use. If you want to use your car to drive to and from work there is an additional premium to pay" He then went on to say that I no longer had a courtsey car as standard either, and my breakdown cover was extra as well! I've got 9 years no claims with these people!
Anyway to cut a long story short I ever so politely told him were he could put his car insurance and bid him good day.

So guys a word of warning read the small print because all of these so called extras were included as standard on my car insurance policy last year.

Just had A thought if your not covered by your insurance for driving to and from work and the police stop you and ask you were you're going and you say either to or from work could/would they charge you for haveing no insurance?

Yep they are getting really sneaky with that one concidering I guess most people drive to work or to a station to get a train to work ( I guess that would be classed as "journey to work"? or part there of.)

Yep, spot on.

I thought they only did that kind of thing in us here 3rd world countries...

The best excuse is always to "make the package more affordable..."

Thing is, at the times of the highest risk you are not insured...

:bang: :bang:

Wonder where the ceo of that company insures his own car??:bat:

social, domestic and commuting is how they word it now i think.

Insurance is a legal way of ripping people off in most cases.

You'd be insured for it if you'd said you used the car for that purpose when you bought the insurance. Having recently bought mine again, every quote thingy I did on the net asks you that question.
