I occasionally use a roof box when taking a cottage holiday. My son in law mentioned yesterday that this could be considered a modification by some insurance that could lead to problems if not declared. This never occurred to be so I checked with my insurers today and was told that it did not need to be declared or mentioned on the policy. The policy makes no mentions of roof boxes but has a definition of modifications. From a Google search it seems that some other insurers are not so forgiving.
