Car insurance renewal - just wow

Don't know about anyone else but my insurance company always gives a quote for renewal that was more expensive than the year before. Then we go through the haggling process, usually just need to find a cheaper quote elsewhere and let them try to beat it.

Insurance costs have fallen this year but they still quoted more, eventually got a price for nearly half what I paid last year and thats with quite a few modifications as well.

Up until this years renewal I was with LV and always phoned and got improved quite I was happy with.

However, this year was an eye watering increase for no reason that made any sense! So, as per another thread hereabouts I used Go compare and IIRC went with Saga.......yes, more than last year but not as much as LV were quoting.

I’ve been with LV for the last few years.. their quotes were close enough to other companies to not bother changing. I’ve had a very good experience with them after an accident too, so preferred to stay with them. But…. we recently changed our car mid policy and the top up figure was astronomical ! So I’ll be looking elsewhere come renewal time I think.
 
i allways do gocompare but its allways hastings that come in with all bells and whistles

Had the same with Saga a few months ago, I bought a full year from Admiral for about the same as Saga wanted to top up six months.
 
I had my two cars on a joint policy with LV.

Come renewal - unacceptable increase

Went onto Comapre The Market and got 2 separate quotes one for each car - get this from LV - cheaper than the joint policy quote they had given me.

Phoned them up to give them the chance to lower their joint policy quote to match - couldn't do it!!

I suppose they still got my money - just not as much as they wanted
