Soon I need to change my brake-pads....In the past I've gone with EBC Red Stuff but found them a little noisy and dusty....I just want to go decent quality OEM style

Any recommendations between Pagid, ATE, etc.....

I welcome all opinions on the topic :)
 
Did you apply copper grease to the rear of the EBC pads as well as the sticky backing pad? I never found my Red Stuff pads to be noisy and produced no more dust than any other pads and not found another fast road pad with similar stopping performance neither.

Pagid are VW / Audi etc OEM pads and are very good - I recently changed my wife's fiesta pads for a set of Pagid ones and absolutely no issues at all. I generally stick with known brands, mintex were nearly twice the price I managed to get the Pagid ones for and no one locally stocked Ferodo pads.

The local ford garage quoted me a similar price to the Mintex pads for genuine ford ones - so could be worth a call to your local dealer for a laugh if nothing else :)

The noise was on the friction side with discs (also EBC). Fully agree on the stopping performance.

Good to hear the thumbs up for Pagid....And I'll try Brembo I think...

I too had EBC discs, Ultimax turbo groove I believe they were called, alternate grooves and drill spot face dots on the disc surface. Produced no noise at all.

Yes same here. I had the black discs version off those. Very noisy I thought.

Yes could be. I'm a very light on my brakes actually, use the engine where possible.

You want a softer pad then not a harder higher temp pad like the Reds (which I think are a ceramic pad ?) . If you stick with EBC, possibly the One of there other pads maybe better - maybe their Greenstuff pads ???

Need some pads for the mini countryman, and a sensor too along with them.
 
mintex pads are great

had them on my VX220 and my Exige, and they were great in both stopping power and durability
 
I have used Pagid discs and pads (standard ones from Eurocarparts) for years now and not had a problem. I usually wait until ECP has one of their sales and then buy the parts which I know I will need (oil, filters, discs, pads, cambelt and water pump kits etc.).

Brilliant, just checked the sale....I went with Pagid and a new wear indicator...Was £59, with xmas code it was £50....Not counting for 1 hour of my own valuable time, overall saving compared with main dealer is just enormous....

Just an aside never use copper grease or any petrolium based product on the backs of pads as it will compromise the dust covers on the caliper piston housings...There are better ways to eliminate high frequency vibration squeel.

Best first step is very good fitting pads, stainless steel shims and new anti chatter plates and pad pins. Pads with less metal in are less likely to squeel and pads that have a chamfer and dust grooves in them are less likely to squeel too...
