I use LR 5.7, DXO Optics Pro 8 and occasionally Capture One (last Sony version).
DXO is terribly slow - several times slower than LR in all respects, though I understand version 10 is comparable. CO is about the same, though I've never done lots of extensive editing with it like I have with LR (brush work) so don't know if it will slow down like LR can on a low-spec machine.
All 3 handle RAW files differently and produce subtly different output. DXO tends to give images of high sharpness, sometimes with artefacts, subtle colours and slightly compressed tonal range, and in version 8 is poor at dust spot removal. LR images are less sharp, but often brighter and bolder, and over-cooking dynamic range compensation will result in fringing and halos, but the spot removal, gradient, brush, alignment and HSL tools are really excellent. CO falls between the 2 for image quality, with the structure tool being good for sharpness and also offering good tonal range control. I find that images processed in LR also work well for external processing in On-One's photosuite, whereas images processed in DXO sometimes start showing intrusive artifacts, especially if sharpened moderately.
For cataloguing I find LR to be most intuitive. DXO is so slow it's hopeless anyway, building image previews from scratch every time a folder is opened. CO I could probably live with, but I LIKE Lightroom.
