Capture NX2 Painfully Slow?

Trying to take advantage of the Picture Controls on my Nikon, I recently bought Capture NX2. For me, being completely new to the programme, I find it is painfully slow.

I'm currently using Lightroom and CS4 which does most thing instantly. I downloaded six images from my camera using Nikon Transfer which was quite fast. Unfortunately, when I started to work on the first image in NX2, it was as I mentioned before, extremely slow. Even something as simple as altering the contrast a few steps had me twiddling my thumbs.

Surely this can't be right?

NX2 does required a bit of tweaking to get it to run faster. I can't remember the exact settings that need changing, but since doing mine I don't have any real speed issues (although changes are still not instant). I'm not sure if you can see this forum without being a member, but have a look at this sub-forum over at Nikon Cafe.

NX2 can be slow at the best of times, ive got used to it now. Anyway, one thing you can do to help it is turn image editing cache off, go to edit - preferences - cache settings, hit the clear cache on both and in the editing cache uncheck the use image cache box then ok. This should help a bit.
