Right iv recently installed this which came with the Nikon disk and I cant understand why i would need to buy it, Unless i do have it and i havent noticed then :cuckoo:

But can anyone help me please, Or do i yet again haved to fork out more money?:bang:

If the NX2 came with you camera kit it should be the trial version so there is a time limit.

Yeah it has 30 days trial , But surely i shouldnt haved to pay more?

You get Nikon Transfer and View NX free but Capture NX is not. They supply a trial edition to get you to purchase.

I got it from Fixation from a thread pointing out a good price. Check the market place before deciding to purchase. You may get it cheaper than direct from Nikon.

Do you get a free copy of photoshop with the camera? No, so why should they give you CaptureNX?

because photoshop has nothing to do with Nikon, whereas Nikon produce CaptureNX.

Its a good question from the OP, you would've thought that spending several thousands on a camera would merit a free copy of their £70 software.

Lets face it, given the choice of paying £70 for the CaptureNX or £50 for photoshop elements, I bet most people will have the photoshop elements option. Or..... given the £1000+ spend on a camera, the end user will chose to buy the full blown photoshop package. Either way, I don't think CaptureNX will win so why not give it free with a camera?

CaptureNX is not made by Nikon, they just package it and provide NikSoft with more info on the Nikon RAW files. And NX has the best RAW convertor for Nikon cameras available full stop, and it has the uPoint system built in which is an expensive photoshop plugin.

One would, but giving away £200 worth of software with a £300 camera doesn't strike me as good business sense ;)
