Thinking about having a winter break to the Cape Verde Islands but forewarned there's nothing to see of interest to a photographer. Is it that boring? Any views?

Just googled it to have a look. There seem to be sand dunes, volcanic landscapes, probably street photography. I imagine there are seabirds. I guess it depends how much you want photography to be part of the holiday and how much you are able/prepared to travel around the place.

Ideally all the above. Relaxing warmth but also some photographic interest. I have also Googled it but just thought I'd ask for any more detailed experiences. Don't just want to spend the whole holiday laying on a sun bed!

I'd do an image search and see what other people have shot there. At a guess, sunrises and sets could be good.

Yes done all that as well. Didn’t see much to inspire.

Well that sounds like the ideal challenge to me. Photograph the unphotographed. Get your creative brain into gear and see what you come back with.

It's going to be tricky to answer without knowing where your photographic interests lie.

For culture, documentary, people and possibly architecture, you're good to go. If you're a woodland photographer, or like Lighthouses at the end of winding paths, you're going to be out of luck. I went 15 years ago too, so things may well have changed. (This was Boa Vista)

Assuming you're in an all-inc, there's always the wildlife :)

And occasionally some big skies...

We went in November and whilst it wasn't "hot", it was "very comfortable". The sea was mostly red flagged due to wind and tides for the entire 10 days and the people there were the best of all the countries we have visited. Although that may have had something to do with us getting our currency mixed up in favour of the locals.

I'd go again in a heartbeat to do it properly with my experience now.

Depends which island.
We went to Sal and did an island tour. You could hire a car or buggy and do the same.
I’m not home so I can’t post examples, but I shot
Kite surfers
Baby sharks (go-pro)
Some interesting architecture (shanty town bright colours)
Fishermen preparing their catch
Some big skies
The salt lakes

Going back in February. And apparently there’s little to photograph or do on Boa Vista, so definitely go to Sal.
