Ok I need some help, I have a picture I really like and want to have it printed on a canvass for personal use. My question is how will I know how big I can get it before and il put it frank look crap? This is the picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/nick-a-baker/6783371199/

I know it's not the best looking picture but it just does it for me. any advice as to the size and anything I can do to make it look better would be most helpful. If this is in the wrong area please let me know.

Nick

Assuming you still have the full size image and that flickr is correct and it was taken on a 400D then I think you should be fine up to any size you can afford ;) Canvas prints can get pretty pricey for really large stuff.

I believe http://www.oxfordimagecompany.com/ have a system where when you upload your photo it will only let you chose up to the largest that can be printed from the file size....I would also recommend them for quality (and price) - there is a review I did on them in this thread - http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=203542

Generally though you should be fine upto say 30" x 20" (I have had photos that size from my 350D and they are still more than fine).

Thank you So much for the quick response. I will check them out now.

Canvas is a pretty poor medium for resolution compared to say a gloss print so you can get away with dropping the dpi when printing. This means you can print larger without seeing any perceivable difference in quality.

I would suggest cleaning up that big dust spot at the top about halfway into the centre from the left

I cant add a big :plusone: to Oxford Image Company, I have one handing one my wall right behind me know and I love it

When I'm next on the laptop that's getting removed. Thanks for pointing that out I didn't notice.
