Can't transfer files form camera to laptop...

So, for the first time since I've gotten my new laptop, I plugged in my 5D Mark II via mini usb and tried to transfer the files from my latest shoot. Unfortunately, they won't transfer. It'll transfer a handful of them and then I get an error on the computer saying something along the lines of the file can't be found and I get a error 70 on the camera. I can view all the files on the card fine and I can transfer them one by one (what a paint) but when I try to transfer them all it'll always give me an error.

I read on one forum it might have to do with not having the eos utilities installed. I went to canon's site, but for some reason the only thing I can download is the utilities updater... which doesn't do much with the utilities software.

I am using Windows 10. I've noticed if I change the OS on the dropdown I get more options. Can I download the Solution Disk (Which should have the utilities on it) for a different OS?

Or might I be experiencing a different problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Looks like a compatability problem and you may have to do it via a card reader to a Canon editing suite that presumably came with the camera. Suggest trying to send Jpeg files and see if they work, if they do then it is the RAW file problem you computer won't accept

Windows 10 is still too new and no doubt not everything will marry up so looks more like a laptop problem more than a camera one

Try download the software for windows 8, So far, programs i can't find for windows 10, the windows 8 installation works fine.

Is there a reason you don't just pop the card into a card reader? (just curious)

Do you just drag and drop from windows explorer, once the camera is plugged in via mini usb?

^Glad there's someone else using Windows 10. Downloaded the Digital Solution software for Windows 8 and it worked like a charm! Thanks for the help guys! :D

You're more than welcome. I've got windows 10 on all of my computers and laptops now! I think it's great!

Keep my advice in mind for anything else you find that you can't yet install for windows 10, I've found many programs I've had to use the windows 8 version for and they all work fine. :)

Good to know. I just got this laptop about a week ago and my only options were windows 8 or 10 and I hated 8 so I decided to give 10 a try. I really enjoy it so far to be honest. Not a fan of all the advertisements in the start up menu, but other than that I like it just fine. I've always thought it a good idea to work off a non-admin account on Windows for security reasons and with all the new automatic internet updates and whatnot I find that particular necessity with 10.

Oh, and also, I don't have a card reader. There is one on my laptop, but it doesn't fit a CF and my phone (Samsung Galaxy s6) doesn't allow removable memory so the reader is unfortunately utterly useless to me and I don't see the point in buying an external one as long as I can do it with a usb cord.

Ahhh I see. I'm unsure what version of windows 10 you're using, but i have no advertisements on my start menu, so i'm unsure of what they actually are, however, if it's just tiles like the others "weather" etc, you can right click on them (give it a try with the ads, you never know) and uninstall, that's it, they'll be gone (like i say, i don't have any ads so i don't know if this will work or not) :)

I have a card reader on my laptop, but it's for SD only, I used SDXC cards, so i need to use a USB card reader for it! and my phone is the s6 edge, so no SD card there either! lol
