A little while ago, I posted a few leaping Salmon photo's that were taken in the River Taff, a short walk from my house.
Strangely Digital Camera Magazine were running there usual '..Out there..' challenge, it just so happened to be 'Animals in action..'
Having not submitted to a magazine before, I thought I'd give it a shot and to my complete joy, this months magazine published the photo...
Chuffed is an understatement :)

What a great start to the new year, getting a shot published was a New Year Resolution, but didnt think it would happen in January !

Cheers,
Neil

PS. A big thanks goes out to this site, without a doubt the best on the net, It has helped me improve leaps and bounds over the last 6 months.

be careful what you wish for!!

congratulations, what a good feeling that is!

Well done mate. It does give you a warm, fuzzy feeling, doesn't it?

Neil - well done mate, nice one! May even get a copy of that mag as inspiration.

Very pleased for you Neil and what a fantastic shot! I'd better add rivers to that list I was supposed to give you today....

Will try harder!

Have a drink on me

Many congratulations Neil ... well done you ...

I bought this mag and as I flipped through, believe it or not I noticed your pic and thought I have seen this before ... I am sure ... but that is the problem with pseudos ... didn't recognise the name and didn't think any more about it ... :D

Only just caught up with your posting too ...

:p

Well done you - I bet you were chuffed!

Congrats Chewy!! :D

I'd love to have some of mine printed, but I'm not quite at that level yet!

Hey can I my copy of DP signed by you? as thats two peep's (you and a mate at work!) that have been in the mag now. I know Jon Gibbs, who had a pic in last month (same section, but about wild weather) and had a full 4 page interview just before xmas (nov/dec issue)!! mixing with you famous people is bound to rub off on me!

Think you would be surprised at how quickly you pick up skills with a digital SLR, conversion from film for me has helped tenfold in my photography.
Investing in a 30d was the best money I have spent, although I still shoot in film from time to time. I reckon this was the 2nd or 3rd occasion I had been back to the same location to shoot the Salmon, and you get better prepared each time. I waited ages for the Salmon to leap within shooting distance, which gave me plenty of time to get the exposure right :)

Thanks for comments everyone, a bit of perseverance, loads of practice and lot's of reading TP and Mags for hints and tips hasn't half helped.
Clawz - If you really want that mag signed drop me a PM :) (head swells), although I'm not so sure about the famous bit.

Well done Chewy AKA Neil Mansfield :D

Well done

I'm going to try for this months one! 'Dawn till dusk' have to see what i can muster up! :D
