Hi there. Today I have purchased a 50D. I previously had a 400D.

I shoot everything in RAW and then double click on the icons in "My Pictures" and they automatically open in Photoshop Elements Raw Editor.

But this is not happening with my new 50D. When I double click P'shop opens and as the image starts to load I get a message saying that the file cannot be opened.

I've checked everything I can think of. The files are exactly the same, the only difference I can see is that my 400D images are around 10mb whereas from the 50D they are 20mb. The only other difference is that in Digital Photo Profesional the raw files have a small lens icon in the top right hand corner whereas this was neber there with my 400D.

Anyone got any ideas? This is driving me insane now.

Try updating the Raw Editor to a version that supports the 50D

Go onto the Adobe site and download the latest upgrade of Elements:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3587
this will include the files you need to open the 50D Raw files.
Install this and you should have no problem opening files.
Good luck.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll get there in the end. All the guides say to open "My computer" thenclick on local disc etc and copy the new file in.

Unfortunately I can't find "my computer" or "local disc" on Vista so i'm gonna have to mess around til I get it sorted. If not I'll be buying elements 7.0 tomorrow lol.

I was assuming you had Elements 7 already even though you didnt say you had. If you go to:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows
You can select the version you have and then select the Raw update you need.

To find your C drive on Vista. Click the start button, then on the right hand side of the panel that opens you will see 'Computer' click on that and you will see your C drive.
Hope this helps.
