Hi all,

Our wedding was in 2007 with a photographer in Lincoln called R.A Davey.

I'd like to get some canvases and prints done, but can't get hold of him. Both phone numbers I've found online are dead, no website, Facebook page or anything. Looks like he's moved from the area or given up the business. What options do I have? I have proof sheets that I've scanned at Boots. What kind of quality would I get from these? How big would I be able to go? Someone suggested taking photos of the photos in my wedding album as I have a DSLR.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Dom

:(

Write to the last address at Centurion Close as he may just have retired, or even pop round and knock on the door if you're close enough. He may well have moved but the new owner may have a forwarding address

As for upscaling proofs, unless they are BIG proofs I can't see that allowing you to get any decent sized canvasses done - let's hope someone else has a better idea

I can only say that a good scan would be a better way to digitise these. I recently scanned a photo from the 1950's and had prints done and it turned out pretty good.

Best of luck.

Scanning your proofs & album would, as Brain said, be the way to digitise them. But you probably won't be able to go very big or high quality from scanned contact sheets. He seems to have a number of listings in Lincoln though?

Yeh the 11 Centurion Close address is mentioned a bit but the phone number isn't working. He wasn't very old so can't think he's retired, might have just given up photography. I'll knock on the door and see what happens. If I upload one of the scene of the contact sheets would someone be able to tell me how big I can go, or is there a way to figure it out for myself?

Thanks,
Dom

Success! He still lives at that address. I put a note through his door and he called me this evening. He's going to have a look for the photos and send me through some details. I'm not sure whether to buy the digital files or get him to supply prints. How much do you think I'd be looking at to buy the digital copies?

Glad you tracked him down ;). Thats a bit of a how long is a piece of string question though. If he's stopped and wasn't expecting anything more from them (as I'm betting he wasn't after 8 years) make him an offer an see how he reacts
