Hi Everyone,

I'm in need of some suggestions for my SLR purchase. I have had a break from photography and previously used a canon 5d mk2 which was great but lacked on the auto focus. I want to move over to Nikon but after watching and reading lots and lots of reviews I'm still undecided as to what to get.

It's either

1. The Nikon d610 which would give me enough to purchase the 24-70 f2.8
2. Nikon d750 with the 50mm 1.4g
3. Nikon d810 with the 50mm 1.4g

I know the d750 is meant to be better with dynamic range and also the Nikon d810 but would I really notice this drop with the d610 and the f2.8. I know it's probably better to go with a better lens but I could upgrade to this in the future.

I enjoy landscape and sports photography. Sorry if someone has already asked this question. Just looking for some extra help. I love the image quality of the full frame sensors.

Thanks

Hi ive just upgraded my nikon from a d7100 to d810. I would like to say its fab. Very early days but the difference of moving up to a full frame is def the way to go. Im just saving now to get the nikon 24-70 f2.8 and then ill be able to really test it out. Currently I have a nikon 50mm 1.8 and a Tamron 70-300 4 -5.6. The 50mm is good but I think the 24-70 will bring better results.
Not sure if its any help but I could post a few sample images?

Thanks for the response :-) I manged to pick up a 24-70 f2.8 from on here which is arriving tomorrow although I don't have a body yet lol. I'm very tempted with the 610 due to the price but would also love the d750. Do you have a Flickr account so I could see the picks? Cheers

I am just looking at the D810 on Panamoz and its very tempting - I need the larger files for the crop ability, for stage shooting, I often will crop for just one person from a full stage shot or a long strip across the front of the stage discarding the top and bottom of the shot, so a D810 would be great for maintaining quality. I also think the D810 has to be the quietest shutter on an SLR I have ever heard. so for wedding shooters its great for when at the front of the church for not upsetting the clergy.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think the d810 is now out of my budget range and probably a little more then what i need. I am very tempted with the D610 especially with the free batter grip offer at the moment. Do you think i will notice the difference in quality over this and the D750??

the d750 is a great camera and everything feels good and solid the 3.2 inch screen is superb .I would leave the d610 and get the d750

I've no personal experience of a d610 or d750 to be upfront but having used d7100 and owning a d700 and d7000 my opinion would be that if the primary reason you disliked the 5d II was autofocus I'd suggest the d750 would be a safer bet if you're not going to try them out first. The 51point af system on nikons is massively better than the 39 point, in terms of performance not just points, and the d750 is supposedly the best version of it yet. If AF is a priority I think you'd have buyers remorse if you go for the d610.

Thanks for the info, i think im edging towards the D750 but thought it was worth exploring all possibilities!
