canon users : DPP or ACR?

I use Lightroom, so ACR. I do occasionally fall back to DPP if I don't get the results I want, but that is increasingly rare. LR does pretty much everything I need and is pretty good for organising photos.

I am using the trial version of Lightroom 2.2 and it is just brilliant and when going back to DPP i realise how lacking DPP is although with some fiddling you can get decent results. I found even Elements 7 better than DPP. I have purchased Lightroom 2.2 which will be with me this week. This renders Elements useless!!! Just as well i didn't pay for it

Like most on here i primarily use Lightroom and then PS for final touch up if needed and convert to optimised jpg for the web.

Going over the same thing. I think DPP like NX2 suits the repsective data of the brand, but nothing can make an image 'pop' like LR. Here are two images processed earlier tonight first is ACR, the second DPP. Will run em through LR tomorrow. I think that DPP looks better in this instance.

Are people using the new Camera styles with ACR/Lightroom? In theory they will get a much closer match to the manufacturer software...

DPP for me for canon it's the best RAW converter by far.

DPP is free. Why pay for something you don't need?

I've been using them with Lightroom , and they work a treat, so if you've CS4 and got the latest update then they should give similar results to DPP.

I've never been one to get over excited about matching DPP setting. I had a import preset which set up the image to my liking.

I'm in the process of adding the picture styles to my usual import preset. Even just going through the differnt picture style options shows that there is a lot of difference.

With regards to paying for something that does the same as DPP, Lightroom does so much more...

A lot of people seem to prefer the DPP conversion, and it could be argued that Canon know their own software best. But personally I don't like the interface on DPP, I find Lightroom offers a smoother workflow, and as other have said with the camera styles in LR 2.0 or ACR the difference is minimal (always assuming you prefer DPP's rendering in the first place).
Yes you do have to buy LR as opposed to the free DPP, but given 1500 pics to edit I'd go for LR everytime. Wayne
