Hi
Just moved across from Canon to Nikon not quite sure why yet as I have been a canon user since the days of the AE-1 I've still got it. So I had the R5 and and a few RF lenses and I was quite happy. I had the R5ii on order and looking forward to it however I think what started me to think of changing was all the pi--ing about Canon did with the R5ii. So in a moment of madness I traded in all my Canon stuff for Nikon (MPB) Z8 - 14-24mm f2.8 - 70-200mm f2.8 -180-600mm f3.5-6.3. So it has been quite a learning curve with the Nikon menus however am getting there and starting to quite like the Nikon.:)

Taken with the Nikon.

I fell out with Canon when they moved away from the FD Mount to make way for the AF lenses, Nikon kept their lens mount the same and developed AF lenses around it so if you havd the olerd lenses they woould still work on the newer bodies. Not so with Canon. I still have one of my 3 F1ns though and a few FD lenses for it but when I went digital I went with Nikon.

Nearly 3 years ago I nearly jumped ship from Nikon to Canon as I loved the mirrorless concept but the Z6 I had alongside my D5, D850 and a few other bodies was clearly not in the same league as Canon or Sony's mirrorless offerings but thankfully saving me lots of money (having expensive glass) I didn't need to trade in as the Z9 was announced and I put my order in and had it almost 3 years now. I had been a very happy Canon film and digital user for many many years but one day when I had no gear decided go with Nikon after loving the colours the cameras and lenses produced and that's where I am today. You've definitely got an excellent camera in the Z8 plus some very good glass so enjoy the ownership and it won't take long master the operating system either.
