I don't know if anyone's interested but I've just taken delivery of the new SX50 - I've not had a 'Powershot' before so it's a new piece of equipment to learn but having had a play this morning I'm pretty impressed, I thought I'd post some images for those interested.

These are jpgs (there's no RAW support in Lightroom at the moment) untouched ie straight out of the camera (well opened and saved in Photoshop) ... if anyone has any questions or they want me to try any specific settings let me know and I'll try and find some time. These are not the greatest photographs in the world but will give people some idea of the capabilities of this camera;

I'm guessing that owners of the SX40 will know a lot more about this camera than me so I may ask some questions ... though I couldn't find a SX40 specific thread

I have been waiting for someone to post images on this, as it is on my {maybe
list,. thanks for posting.

Nice - regarding RAW, could you convert to .tif and edit in Lightroom?

Al

You're welcome Derek ... and Al, I'm in no hurry, I'll wait for the Raw support, I could always use DPP but have become a lot happier with Lightroom 4 ... Roger

Well I have had time to browse your pics and their not at all bad just wondering whether it would save me the hassle of carrying a heavy bag of equipment around all the time or get as a backup thanks again for posting.

Roger,

What part of the day did you take the river/boat shots?

Al

EDIT: Forget that - I can see the shooting info :) Al

Well I thought I'd try it out for the same reason Derek, especially for taking on holiday with Ryanair's weight restrictions and I'm sure there are many times when I don't grab my bag with the MKII and a couple of lenses because of the weight and inconvenience and yes the quality is pretty good though not for 'serious' stuff ... I'll give it a few months and see how it goes.
