Canon sx280

I am looking for a travel zoom for forthcoming overseas trip. Price and image quality looks attractive on the Canon SX280 but I am concerned about the mixed reviews on battery performance.
Any experience from recent buyers a would be interesting.

My wife has one of these and is happy with it, it also has GPS "Built=in".
